Suresh Goyal of Hissar district from Haryana has been doing farming and gardening on the ‘Daily Income Model’ for the past 7 years. They grow dozen of fruits and vegetables. They are successfully earning 30 lakh rupees annually. Interestingly, Suresh doesn’t belong to peasant family. He earlier had a business of Transportation in big like Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad etc. They did not even have land for farming purpose but, now they have been fully converted into full fledged farming practices.
Most of the people of Suresh’s village are involved in transportation business. After completing his studies, Suresh also moved to Chennai and started doing transport work. He has an experience of transportation sector of three decades and also has spread its network in many cities of the country. After some years he shifted to Mumbai with his family. Meanwhile, his village continued to move. He used to visit his village during holidays.
Suresh, 62, says that the village does not have much of the facilities during his childhood. The people of the village had to go far for fruits and vegetables. They say, ‘Once my maternal uncle came to the village and he asked his mother where is the place to buy fruits?the answer to this question remained silent. From the same day, he had got a rough idea that he should have to plant a garden for my village. Subsequently, in 2012, Suresh handed over his business to the brothers and returned to the village. First of all he went to agricultural universities and agricultural science centers, where he learned farming tricks and tips. Then he started attending seminars and workshops releated to agriculture farming.
Suresh said, ‘I have met many farmers personally from Haryana and Punjab who are completely in the organic farming field. I learnt lot from them. After having basic idea I bought 7 acres of land in my village and started farming. Suresh first started fruit farming. Later they also started growing vegetables. Today, there are 1500 fruit plants in his garden, including guava, lime, lemon, amla, berries, peaches, berries, pomegranate, liche, apple, orange. Along with this, he has also had provided employment to 20 people, who work in his fields.
Suresh has been doing business of organic farming since the beginning. It is from the weeds and waste produced from the fields that they prepare manure for the fields. They suppress the waste and weeds in the field itself and then mix it in the fields when manure is made. Along with this, neem oil is used instead of pesticides. This is why people in his village and surroundings like to buy fruits and vegetables from his garden.
How to prepare daily income model
Suresh says that the most important things a farmer to have some income every day. So I planted different trees, so that I did not have to wait long to get the produce. The advantage of this is that I get yield from different trees in different seasons. Apart from fruits, he also plants seasonal vegetables in a part of his land, which includes vegetables like cabbage, gourd, potato, carrot, cucumber, pumpkin, luffa, tomato, ladyfinger. Due to this, they have availability of fruits and vegetables according to each season. They place mandis in their garden where people come to buy fruits and vegetables.
Educated people get into farming
Suresh says that there are many people who consider farming as non profitable. People often say there is nothing in the field of farming But it is not actually true. Actually farming is the best sector where you can earn more profit at very low cost. Suresh believes that educated people should enter the farming sector. So that the farmers get confidence, they can be guided properly. If farming is done as a business, choosing the right crops according to the season, then you can earn up to two lakh rupees per acre comfortably.
