New Delhi. “India maintains a sense of friendship with all its neighbors, but the Indian government has made it clear that the new India will not accept terrorist attacks on its territory.” said Minister of State for External Affairs Shri V. Muraleedharan, while interacting with the students of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) on the fourth day today. Speaking on the subject ‘Paradigm Shift in Indian Foreign Policy’ Mr. Muraleedharan said that today is the anniversary of the November 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai. One of our neighboring countries has voluntarily adopted terrorism as a dialogue. He said that India’s uniform process on terrorism has better exposed our policy regarding countries which use terrorism as their foreign policy. We have made it clear that New India will not face terrorist attacks quietly.
Emphasizing the role of media in foreign policy, Mr. Muraleedharan said that it is the responsibility of media to present the picture of India globally. Media plays an important role in bilateral relations with neighboring countries. Many times the wrong picture of India is presented in news. So my media friends must keep in mind the facts and figures while reporting.
The Minister of State for External Affairs said that India’s permanent membership of the UN Security Council is a top priority of the government. Referring to the ‘Act East Policy’, he said that the objective of this policy is to advance economic cooperation, cultural relations and strategic partnership.
Muraleedharan said that COVID-19 has given us an idea of mutual engagement and dependence on each other. We cannot fight this enemy alone. This disease does not see boundaries, so our fight against it must be coordinated.
Earlier speaking on the topic ‘Digital and Social Media: Emerging Fifth Pillar of Democracy’ in the first session of the program.
