World Boxing Championships: #MaryKom enters semis of 51 kg Category

Six-time champion India’s MC Mary Kom beats Rio Olympic bronze medalist Ingrit Valencia of Colombia 5-0 in the quarterfinals of the 51-kilogram division at Ulan Ude, Russia.

Six-time champion M C Mary Kom assured herself an unprecedented eighth medal at the World Women’s Boxing Championship after advancing to the semifinals.

Mary Kom defeated Colombia’s Valencia Victoria, a unanimous 5-0 verdict to make the last-eight stage in 51kg weight category.

With this, Mary Kom bettered her own record as the most successful boxer in the history of the tournament. This is the first time, she has secured a world medal in the 51kg category. DD news
