Congress president Rahul Gandhi has expressed regret for attributing chowkidar chor hai remarks against Prime Minister Modi to the Supreme Court. Rahul Gandhi has told the Supreme Court that the comment was made in the heat of campaigning.
“My statement was made in the heat of political campaigning … my political opponents wrongly projected that I had deliberately and intentionally suggested that SC had said ‘Chowkidar Chor hai’. Nothing could be farther from my mind,” Gandhi said.
The Supreme Court has made it clear that chowkidarji (watchman) has committed a theft,” Rahul Gandhi had told reporters during his rally in Amethi.
The SC bench had issued a clarification that it had not made any remarks regarding the Prime Minister’s role in the Rafale deal.
