Delhi High Court rejects plea against the ban of The accidental prime minister
My Times Today. The maker’s of The accidental prime minister can have relief as on monday Delhi High Court rejected the plea against the movie ban.
The plea was filed by a Delhi-based designer named Pooja Mahajan, who had alleged that the film was maligning former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s image. The petitioner also alleged that by playing the characters of Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, without their permission, the actors have also committed offences under Section 416 of the IPC and therefore CBFC should not grant it a certificate for screening of the movie.
The HC disposed Mahajan’s plea and directed the petitioner to change the plea to a PIL as the movie involves the office of prime minister and then approach the division bench.
Based on Sanjaya Baru’s eponymous book, The Accidental Prime Minister is slated to release on January 11.
